Wes Jernigan is a retired anthropologist, archaeologist and art historian who studied and taught prehistoric and historic native Southwestern cultures. Since retiring in 2002 he has been a children's book illustrator, artist and poet. His art reflects his long professional interest in Native American cultures. His art has appeared in a dozen Arizona galleries and as many art fairs. Almost 40 of his artworks are on permanent display in the Tucson Medical Center.
