Beneath the Surface is the theme for Paperworks' 25th Anniversary Exhibition. Vera Gates, president of Paperworks, shares her poetic reflection on the theme: "In the making of Art, there is the seen, the heard, the understood. And then there is the deep unknown. The magic… beneath the surface. An ancient well of wisdom. A way of being. Of wanting, needing, to create. To realize in some physical form that which lies embedded within us. We need not understand it. But it is essential to our being that we make. Something. Out of nothing. That we make art. In our own, precious way.
