What is A Gorgeous Excitement?

A Gorgeous Excitement is a landmark group art exhibition featuring 27 of Tucson’s most accomplished visual artists. Curated by Paul Gold, the show celebrates the depth, energy, and resilience of Tucson’s creative community at a time when opportunities for artists to exhibit in-person have diminished.

What is the goal of the exhibition?

The goal is to spotlight Tucson’s premier artists while bringing audiences back into physical spaces to experience art face-to-face. This high-profile show is part of a grassroots initiative led

by Janny Taylor and Deborah Gillis, Co-Directors of Steinfeld Warehouse Community, Outreach, as well as other members of the Steinfeld artist community who have come together to support their peers and reenergize local engagement with the arts.

What makes this show different from other art exhibitions?

This isn’t just a gallery show—it’s a full creative experience. Alongside the exhibition, guests can visit open artist studios throughout the Steinfeld Warehouse, offering a rare chance to see

behind the scenes, meet artists, and view additional works.

The show also stands out for its scale, diversity of mediums, and the fact that it’s housed in one of Tucson’s most historic and beloved arts spaces.

What is the Steinfeld Warehouse Gallery & Studios?

Built in 1907, the Steinfeld Warehouse is one of Tucson’s oldest surviving industrial buildings. Now revitalized as a dynamic arts hub, it houses the Steinfeld Gallery and more than two dozen working artist studios. Its exposed brick, creaky wood floors, and passing freight trains make it a uniquely atmospheric setting for contemporary art.
